"Deny reality" that women don't look older and frumpier with gray hair?  Um, OK.  Sure.  How's this: women look GREAT with gray hair!  Let yourself go gray and be confident that colleagues, friends, and others will think you look JUST AS GOOD with gray hair, because women look great with gray hair, and anybody who says otherwise is delusional and a meanie and you should ignore them because you are BADASS for letting yourself go gray.

Back on planet earth: it DOES matter how you look, and it DOES matter how others perceive you, especially if you are a middle aged woman in the workplace.  You WILL be treated differently if you look "older" than your age, and like it or not, presenting yourself well (including covering gray) influences the way you are regarded professionally.  Sure, it's unfortunate and unfair, but this is how it is.

Plus, covering gray doesn't take much effort, and the fact is that most dh's are NOT as attracted to your gray hair as you choose to believe.  You may not care about remaining attractive for your partner, but some others do.[/quote]
