Dulles Cup incidents - Herndon Coach ejected - fan fight arrests - fans ejected - dogs all over the place - boys team scores 20-0 15-0 in first 2 games Sad and shameful all around Can’t we all just get along ?
I'm not a dog owner, but what on earth is wrong with someone bringing a dog to a game?
About dogs or pets. No league or park allows them at games or practices. Unfortunately league, tournament and tram officials do a crappy job of enforcing those rules. I have seen matches halted because some dumbass’s dog got loose and is running all over the field.
So what? Obviously not 100% ideal, but surely a dog putting a temporary halt to a kid's soccer game is one of those mildly amusing things that happens from time to time. It should bring a smile to peoples' faces, be dealt with in sconds and the game resumes. Hardly a "hall of shame" event...?
In Fairfax, at least, there are signs prohibiting dogs at every field. So showing up with one makes the owner an entitled a-hole.
+1
I know reading comprehension is tough, but unless it's a school, the signs say that dogs are not permitted ON the athletic fields, not that they are not allowed at the park. Leashed dogs have always been allowed at all Fairfax County (and FFX City) parks, so taking a dog with you to watch a game is perfectly fine, as long as you do not let it onto the actual field.
So you're staying 15 feet away from the field, right?
PP can't follow simple rules from their club. Their club doesn't allow pets at the fields at all.
You're dumb. Another poster copied SYA's policy on dogs. SYA is not my club. I have never had anything to do with SYA. Morevoer, their policy just states that they "prefer" no pets, not that pets are not allowed. Again, I know reading is hard. It's true that pets are prohibited on school grounds, and there are signs at every entrance clearly indicating that. That's why my post above says, "unless it's a school." I do not take my dog to games at school fields, or anywhere else where pets are prohibited. I do often take my dog to soccer games at Fairfax County Parks, because "he Fairfax County Park Authority has always welcomed leashed dogs in all of its parks," (https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/topics/guides/dogs - noting that the only place you can take your dog OFF leash is in a designated dog park.) I do keep my dog more than 15 feet from the field boundary, and generally at least that far from any other spectators. That is mostly because he is extremely friendly - social to a fault - and will tend to get distracted (and distract me) if there are other people around that he wants to say "hi" to. I also recognize that tournaments will sometimes add their own rules and restrictions in addition to the regular rules governing county parks, so I always check the tournament rules carefully to make sure they do not have a no pet policy before traveling with my dog. I get that there are irresponsible dog owners out there, just as there are complete A-holes who can't keep their mouths shut during the games, get in fights with opposing spectators, and otherwise act like idiots, spoiling the experience for the rest of us. But it was wrong for the OP to have included "dogs everywhere" during soccer tournaments as part his/her "hall of shame." The 15 foot limit applies to all spectators, whether or not they have a pet. "11. For patron safety, only players, coaches, umpires and referees are allowed on athletic fields. All spectators, pets and others are to remain at least 15 feet from the boundary of the field, or outside a perimeter fence." https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/rules/athletic-fields.
Sorry, but I'm with the OP (and I'm a dog owner myself).
