Because the next year the numbers go back up and now you’re adding someone when you could have kept the lash person and had slightly smaller classes for ONE year. It’s really disruptive to the kids and school community when a teacher gets forced out like that and it’s worse when next year they’re like “oh rehire someone lol” If it’s a clear projection of declining enrollment for years due to redistricting or a new school opening that’s different but doing this for small fluctuations every year is really hard on admin and schools.
