I would never root against America but then I would never insult America by kneeling in front of our flag. You cannot have it both ways. Viewership is at an all time low for sports. People are tired of the drama and the continual preaching. Most people would love to go back for focus on sports and maybe the platforms focused on when season is over. This goes for either pro or against America and all the things we do wrong. Sometimes you just want to watch the team and cheer on a player without wondering if that player would hate you if you voted the wrong way in their eyes. Love more personal come back  stories and more focus on positive things.  Anyway wish them well and think there are a lot of talented players on the team and I am sure they are stressed right about now.

I believe in first amendment and were we talking about someone being arrested? but the reality is no one is barely watching sports because they are tired of all the anger. They turn off sports and other things like The Oscars. The hypocrisy is the immediate name calling of “Trumpers” when those same people who are upset that there are people happy that USWT lost ( and I am not one of them) but [b]are okay with disrespect to our flag[/b]. Most people again just want to watch sports and appreciate people leave the politics to another arena. I am pretty sure this is true because people just turn off the tv. I am amazed how clueless people are that 99 percent of our country isn’t interested in anyone’s politics.

The kneeling is a cheap virtue signaling.  If you want to have a meaningful protest, you decline the call up.  However, if you accept the call up and wear your country's jersey, you show respect to the national anthem and flag. When you have a platform you can use it for affecting causes that are important to you. It’s always been that way. Business leaders, corporate CEOs have been involved in politics and causes, promoting their causes within their company and from the board room. Religious leaders have done the same. There is little pushback on them to stay out of politics. For women and minorities, who have never had much of a platform in business or religion leadership, sports is one of the rare platforms available. Using your platform to speak out on causes you believe in is what America is all about. When people don’t like the message they say things like “stay out of politics” and “shut up and play”. People said this about Muhammad Ali, NBA players, Martina Navratilova, nothing new.  It just so happens that the biggest platform available to some, the way to get the most people to pay attention to their cause, is to protest during the national anthem because it triggers people like you. Meaningful social protests have always been uncomfortable to those who don’t want change [/quote]

I never understood the National Anthem at the start of games. We don’t play it before plays, concerts, movies, school, tennis, golf, work. Why certain HS and pro team sports? I get it at the Olympic medal ceremony, but other than that get rid of it. As far as social protests that’s all fine but don’t ruin another person’s career due to their beliefs. That’s what your likely protesting against in the first place (injustice). [/quote]
