The puppies are adorable. But if you were wondering if most foster dogs from shelter are part pit bull the answer is there. Also cattle dog + pit bull = willful strong minded dog.
OP here and I just wanted to touch on your pit bull comment. Going into fostering we originally said we did not want to foster a pit bull mix, in hindsight that probably wasn't realistic, but we have a 25 pound beagle mix and we didn't want to take any chances. When we got the call about Penny, the rescue said they wouldn't have called us, but none of their other fosters were prepared to deal with puppies. They said if we couldn't take her they would have to tell the shelter that had picked her up that they couldn't help. Ultimately we said yes, with the understanding that if she showed any signs of aggression towards us or our dog she would have to go. She turned out to be the sweetest dog I have ever met. From Olaf's DNA test it looks like she was half pitbull, and I have to say, if most pitbulls have her disposition I can understand why people fight for them. I've been around dogs my whole life and I had never met a dog as affectionate and sweet as her. I also believe that proper socialization for young puppies is extremely important and will reduce the risk of aggression and behavioral problems later in life. Those puppies were born and raised in our home for the first 8 weeks of their lives. We handled and gave them love daily. We also socialized and exposed them to as much as we could. Needless to say, they were well adjusted puppies.
