Holy meltdown on AEM tonight, part of the same thread where we saw familiar melters and naysayers posting yesterday. The commenter said her life plan included public school. Fair enough. But I don't think any of us had a global pandemic in our life plans but we got one anyway and we had to deal. It sucked in so many ways and it definitely sucked more than for others, but FFS, get out of the bitter barn and play in the hay (Phoebe in a Friends episode).
In fairness, that commenter also said she’s a frontline health care worker, and our society broadly makes child care a challenge for essential workers. It’s in those moments that I do realize how lucky I had it having a job I could do from home, so no wonder why she was so offended when she was told to just get over it. And then icing on the cake being told by AEM’s most flagrant and frequent ad hominem attack dog who pounced and just wouldn’t stop attacking. She’s one of the ones who has turned me off from proactively checking that group for useful info.
I’m not saying it didn’t suck a lot for her, and I’m sorry for what she went through. But I’m more alarmed by what she seems to STILL be going through, as she seems stuck in focusing on what went wrong. While I don’t agree with much of what the responding poster typically posts, or the manner in which they do so, I agree that at some point everyone needs to get unstuck and move forward. Otherwise it’s just unhealthy for her and her kids. The continuing rage that so many seem to feel and publicly post is disconcerting.
The attacker is a well known troll who doesn't even use her real name. And the poster was simply warning a person who just moved to Arlington about what went on this past year. Again, the "moderator" is an absolute joke. Those attacks are so disgusting and that moderator is also disgusting for letting that occur. Sure - get over the fact that APS harmed your children and not let anyone know who just moved here. Ventilation Woman, CO2 Monitor Woman, Lunch Petitioner - is that you again?
You again? APS didn't harm my child because I did not focus on the negative. They adjusted through many, many changes and got through the year. Maybe their education was not at the level as full in person school, but that's okay. There's next year (with five days a week of school) to look forward to. Kids are resilient. But you will continue to blame the same three people instead of a pandemic. Got it.
