For those who were screened for gifted services with high CogAT scores, have you received news of being identified?
We got an email today saying our 1st grade DD was identified based on her tests. She was referred for testing based on teacher recommendation, it wasn't identification based only on the Cogat given to everyone in 2nd and 3rd grade.
The CogAT scores don't automatically guarantee idenitification, but high scores are automatically screened for eligibility. DD didn't have high CogAT scores, but was identified based on her school work, prizes won, other test scores and overall behavior. There is a whole list of things they look out for, so your DD must have excelled in these areas.
I think this was my child too. CogAT scores were good, above average, but not super high. She is a good student and an excellent reader, but I figure that’s a lot of kids in APS.
