And what, pray tell, would that existing evidence be? These "doctors" that PP knows? The "100 - 200 people" whose health history she's intimately familiar with? The science suggests that doing cardio indoors and unmasked with other unmasked people is probably likely to lead to at least some transmission of an *airborne* virus, unless said cardio is occurring in an wind tunnel.
The fact that gyms have been open for almost a year without almost any major outbreaks (and none in this area as far as I know) that would force to close them again should be evidence enough. I do believe that unmasked cardio can spread the virus, but it very much looks like that either the imposed distancing prevented it or, in my view more likely, people who chose to return to the gym were cautious enough in other parts of their lives and/or privileged enough to be able to work from home and thus they never contracted COVID and had nothing to spread in the gym.
Reality hasn't conformed to pp's fear and she has no "science" to back it up. I totally understand that returning to the gym, unmasked, is anxiety inducing for a lot of people. But tens of thousands (hundreds?) of us in VA alone have returned to working out maskless without any issue. There haven't been outbreaks, or whispers off the record from employees, staff, or customers. The evidence of covid spread just isn't there. Maybe it's the spacing enforcement, air ventilation changes, temp checks (as a partial deterrent), or just generally health conscious people... but if pp had ever returned to a gym, they'd see how many people have had healthy, safe experiences in a year. It isn't "luck." Skip it if you'd like, but pp has absolutely no idea what she's talking about.
For the umpteenth time, going back to the gym was the FIRST thing I did when I was fully vaccinated. And no, it wasn't reassuring, given how many people had their masks around their noses, weren't observing spacing guidelines, etc. - and that was just in the free weights section, where people aren't breathing as heavily as during cardio. Your inability to read what PPs are saying, let alone correctly process it, is painful.
Right, so you've only been back for a couple of months at most? That's hardly telling of how gyms have been safety wise, in the past year. Look - if it bothers you, go to a mask-only gym. Those of us who have been working out regularly maskless in gyms know they're safe for us. We all signed waivers, we're all taking that risk - even though the risk hasn't come to fruition. You do you. Leave those of us who'd like to be maskless well alone - we get that it's at our own discretion and isn't actually a big deal.
