Are you going to lie on Monday when it’s time to go back to school?
Bless your heart. Get some time away!
So that’s a yes. You’re going to lie.
Then they turn around and want to know why teachers don’t want to teach their kids in person. Parents don’t care!!! Little Tommy just had to have his island vacay! Epitome of privilege.
DC teachers have all had the opportunity to be vaccinated. Kids traveling on spring break are not a threat to them.
This. It's really illuminating how bitter some of the teachers are even after they were bumped up the vaccination queue earlier than teachers in many parts of the country and most parents on here (ie if school transmission really was significant it would be the unvaccinated parents at home, not the vaccinated teachers in the classroom, bearing the covid risk of schools being open) And it wasn't all vacations. I doubt we were the only ones who left town to finally check in on recently vaccinated, elderly parents out-of-state who we hadn't visited in over a year. (We didn't see anyone else and still will follow the rules returning even though our exposure was only to two vaccinated people so less than most who stayed in town.)
You are not the problem. And you are not the parent that upsets teachers. When I send a kid home for not following travel orders, it’s not for my safety. It’s for my unvaccinated students, my unvaccinated husband (yeah we have families too), and my unvaccinated parents. Just because a teacher is vaccinated doesn’t mean they aren’t concerned about those around them. Also, the last thing I want as a teacher is a case in my class and have to go back to virtual while my class quarantines. It’s the parents who feel it’s their right to risk all of the above because they don’t agree with the rules that upset me. Maybe I am bitter. I am bitter at parents who ask me to put their kids first, but in return they can’t put one person above themselves. I am bitter at parents who would risk everything we have been doing to get back in the classroom because they don’t agree with a rule. So maybe I am bitter, but you are not who I am bitter with. I don’t know one teacher who would be upset with you. I actually have no issue with people who went on vacation so long as they followed the rules and waited 3 days to be tested.
