We can be fired for anything. Do you know how many nannies get fired because the mom feels insecure? Between the dad’s roving eyes and the kids affection, we are constantly on edge about being fired for something ‘illegal’. It’s not illegal when you are an at will employee. We can and do get fired for being too hot, the kids like us a little too much, people don’t want a flu shot, too many sick days, too old, you name it. Things you would never get fired for in the corporate world. People don’t see domestic workers as real people, just the hired help. We have zero protections under the law, and if you’re a nanny you better get vaccinated 1) to protect the kids 2) or else you’ll be fired. [/quote]
