Through what ranks? County council?  A lot of being county exec is actually managing people and money, just because someone has served on the council does not mean they will be a good manager.  In fact, from what I observed of Elrich while he was in the council, I thought he was poorly suited to the country ty exec position due to his lack of both leadership skills and ability to work with others. And he’s proved to be an incompetent manager.[/quote]

I think the moderate wing of the Democrats needs to consider how amenable people will be to the "I'm a rich businessman and can therefore run government well" argument in the post Trump era. It's 100% a turnoff for me. Blair just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Between Blair and Elrich I will vote for Elrich even though I think he's seriously stumbled as a manager. Between Elrich, Rice, Blair and Riemer I would vote for Rice.[b]

I didn't think so. I might end up voting for Flickr, too if either Jawando or Elrich runs.  I've had it with progressives in MoCo, and so has DH.

Just as Trump lost due to how he mismanaged the covid crisis, Elrich should lose for mismanaging how the county has dealt with covid and the vaccine rollout.  The county's metrics are ridiculous.  Way too conservative.  They don't seem to get that the impact to employment for lower income people has been hit much harder than upper income folks.  They keep dragging the closures on by having metrics that is out of line with the state.  All that does is keep lower income people unemployed and kids out of school.

When covid first hit, shutting things down was the right call as we did not know much about covid, and the death rates were much higher. But over the summer, when the numbers looked much better and we knew more about covid and how to manage it, things should've opened back up more, and schools should also have opened in the fall when the numbers were much lower.

Elrich and his team were too concerned with equity rather than having the county open up, which in the end, would actually help lower income people more.  Elrich is short sighted, and IMO, catering to one group over another.  I don't feel he represents everyone in the county; IMO, he seems to only want to represent certain segments in the county.  He doesn't seem to be open to listening to people with opposing views. He tells everyone to be patient.   I'm sorry, but even places like NY and NJ, the hardest hit states, have opened up more than we have.

I really don't understand why MoCo is so behind. It's like they are paralyzed by their fear.  Not a good leadership style.[/quote]
