PP here..... Wondering if any reporter will ask Joe about this, or any of the other scandals surrounding Hunter at Joe's first press conference today.
Considering that Politico's "sources" are two random, unidentified people and that the Secret Service has no record of it, I doubt it. This is embarrassing muckraking. Make sure you read the entire story to find the fact that the gun store owner never talked to the Politico reporter.
No, he talked to police and FBI and police reports were used to source the news story.
Read it again, the story doesn't say that. "While police questioned Hunter and Hallie, two Secret Service agents arrived at the store where Hunter had purchased the gun, StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington, according to the two people familiar with the incident. The agents showed their badges and identification cards to Palmieri, the store’s owner, and asked to take possession of the Firearms Transaction Record that Hunter had filled out to buy the gun earlier that month, according to the people familiar with the incident." Politico's only sources here are two people they've allowed to remain anonymous without providing any reason for doing so. Congrats! You've been manipulated by the fake news.
The sources are definitely people connected to the gun shop - the owner(s), employees, or their immediate family members. Of course they will leak stuff about Hunter - who do you think they supported in the 2020 election? A bunch of gossiping gun rights yentas. Surely they can't have an agenda...
The sources are people who know what happened and are connected to the gun shop and that’s “fake news?”
PP here - my point is we don't know who the sources are because Politico chose to keep them anonymous and has not provided any description of who they are - i.e.- law enforcement or federal agents or employees. One source is supposedly someone with "firsthand" knowledge of what happened in the gun store and the other one is someone who was "briefed" by "a" Secret Service Agent after the fact. There's no context of who the sources are or why these sources are being afforded anonymity. So they could be anyone or no one. There's also no corroborating information that Secret Service actually visited the gun shop. The gun shop owner didn't speak to Politico and the Secret Service says they have no record of any involvement. And yet the story is written to make it sound like the gun shop owner is providing this information about the interaction to Politico even including that the gun shop owner suspected the Secret Service was trying to take the paperwork in an effort to hide Hunter Biden's ownership of the gun. Which a) is stupid. The police already knew it was his gun - both he and his girlfriend talked to the police and he went and got the gun case. Go back and read the story really carefully and look where they weave tidbits in to make it look like someone other than their two anonymous sources provided information about alleged Secret Service involvement. It's well done and very much intended to create a narrative that there's very little support for.
