Sidwell or STA for overall quality of experience and quality of life? Kid is smart, funny, kind and sporty but not a D1 recruit-to-be. Wants a great high school experience.
Very different communities. The parents and kids are very different. A family that is happy at one would not necessarily be happy at the other. There are threads on here about the communities and their differences and similarities.
LOL at this post. This is Washington and both Sidwell and STA cost upwards of 50k / year to attend. Both “school communities “ if by that you mean parent households are made up of mainly top 1 percent economic earners nationwide, likely went to the same Universities and Grad schools and have been earning north of 1-2 million a year since their late 30’s. They may even have one kid in each school ( as a prior poster shared) Both give large amounts of FA to a significant number of students. So what is the difference? Well, to the extent that a school community is also Faculty and Admin and the culture by which the school is run then : Saint Albans has a long tenured faculty and ,though the HOS is new , the Admin tone is one of a tightly run ship, highly organized, sets a high bar and does not tolerate envelop pushing from parents Sidwell: More loosely goosey from top down and from the classroom up and lots of complaints and pressure from parents very accustomed to never being told “ no” Perhaps PP is right and some people instantly know what type of community is “ their style”
