While I think that OP is a whiner and the important thing would be to spend the time with his family, that is NOT what I got from the text  you quoted. He said he doesn't care about the Jewish holiday but because his mother cares, he goes there to celebrate even though it is inconvenient for him. And he is complaining his mother is not showing the same courtesy and respecting what he thinks is important (celebrating tkd in the actual day).[/quote]
