Oh yes. He's licensed and paid. Been coaching for many, many years at multiple local travel clubs. It's a small club that's run by volunteers so our fees are very low. We play our seasons in NCSL but do about three tournaments (and scrimmage) where we compete against NPL, CCL, and EDP teams.  [/quote]

Just wanted to add: There are some obvious downsides to smaller clubs—but if your child is a decent player, wants to progress, but is self-aware enough to know they are not getting a college scholarship to play soccer, small clubs (with reasonable fees!) are good enough. I'll never understand playing upwards of $3k a year if your child isn't college-sports bound. Just find a decent coach and teammates that he likes![/quote]

Absolutely.  I do think though that most kids on an ECNL team have at least a hope or goal of playing at college.[/quote]
