I don't have a very cultlike personality and have always been into my own fitness routines (and never craved the community of classes). For this reason, I never got the appeal. But if people are into Peloton and it works for them, ::shrug:: You do you.
I’m just like you (never got into cult fitness) but considering a Peloton just because it’s so convenient. Is there anyone else in this thread who isn’t typically a fitness devotee type who really fell in love with their Peloton?
I was never into a specific fitness program prior to Peloton. I did do Orange Theory for a little while and at first, I did find myself into it, but l quickly fell out of it because the classes didn't fit my schedule, they never had any space available in the ones that I could take, and there were some instructors there that I didn't find very motivating. I was a little worried when I fell hard for my Peloton when I first got it that I would fall out of it like OTF, but I am a total Peloton devotee and love it so much. I look forward to it. I love that it is on my own time. I love that I can pick whichever instructor I want depending on my mood that day. I love that I can preview the music and decide if that's what I want to listen to for my ride that day. I love the community. My husband rides too, but he views it more of a bike. He doesn't participate in Peloton groups, doesn't follow the instructors on IG. So, he's less about the community, but he still gets in a good workout. I think one of the things I notice about Peloton is that they don't need "coaches" like Beachbody does to go out and promote their product. I follow BB devotees on IG and they talk about how they've got thousands of "coaches" on their teams, etc. and Peloton doesn't need to do that. They just put out good content and people come. They don't have to go out and recruit users. I got mine because of word of mouth hearing about it from my friends who have a Peloton and I started using the app over the summer to run outside. I felt like I got to know the instructors that I decided to take the plunge and get the bike, and I'm so glad I did.
