I LOVE the complicated relationship between Emily and Lorelei. To me that is the heart of the show. I love how the characters were super contradictory. Like Lorelei wanted to be this free spirit but actually, she was super organized and focused in how she ran her business, and had strict rules around no dating while Rory grew up, etc. And yes she hated her upbringing but wanted Rory to go to the best schools. I love that because people are so that way.

I really liked how Rory grew up a hot mess with little direction and might end up just going back to Chilton teaching at the end of the revival series. I went to a very wealthy ritzy private school growing up and guess what - all the all stars from my high school are doing very normal things. Some are big law partners who work a ton and I'm sure make a lot of money but certainly aren't famous or known for being at the top of their field. Or they are SAHMs, or teachers, or mid management employees somewhere. No one is a star journalist, best selling author, or famous anything. It's just reality. [/quote]
