Hearing of more cases hitting this club currently.
Multiple coaches/trainers tested positive. Emails were sent immediately. Pipeline has been responsible during the entire Pandemic. Moving along.
Nope. Some of the coaches who tested positive coach multiple teams. One team was told; the others were not or not until later. But again, that's the point of this whole thread. You didn't know about any of this, because there trying to sweep it under the rug. If you're at Pipeline, then you probably know that the team chat was disabled on the girls TeamSnaps since the beginning of the season. Big Brother much?
What is your major malfunction?!?!? TeamSnap chat was disabled because of two teams that had issues with parents, calling out other kids and parents and such. Had absolutely nothing to do with CoVid!?!?!? I'll admit, that's not exactly a good look but at least it's not trying to cover up CoVid. Please stop trying to start rumors. Please!
Agreed. The point was not that the two were directly related but that this is part of the culture fo this organization
I understand that point and agree that if you have a kid that needs some development it can be frustrating. What usually happens at these clubs is what you refer to as that pressure to win at all costs, especially when you build your program on that basis, which it seems like Pipeline and other do. They focus on winning and less on development so if your kid is struggling on the A or even B team they usually will write them off, which is the problem with youth sports now, and I especially notice in soccer. There isn't much focus on developing that diamond in the rough because it is often too hard to do and fails most times. They want the bigger, stronger, faster kids now because they have an immediate impact. Taking a kid who has great field sense and soccer IQ and developing the other skills is out of the question for most places. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze for them. However, most misunderstand their 2nd and 3rd teams. Those teams should be used for developing kids, however most parents/organizations just get pissed because they aren't winning and their kid isn't moving up to the 1st team so they move to another team and the cycle continues. I don't have a kid at Pipeline, but have been impressed with the teams we have played on the boys and girls side. Now, will some people be turned off by the win at any cost attitude? Sure, I get that. Will others flock to it because it's what they want and their kid can thrive? Yes, I get that too. It's all about your personal preference. If your kid wants to play good soccer, but have fun and do other things socially then a place like that is probably not for them. I don't think organizations should be crucified for having a certain level of expectations though. Pipeline parent. The culture is toxic but again for the 100th time, there is no covid coverup. The culture is also toxic at many other clubs so I am sure we could have the same conversation about many of the clubs in the DMV area. Youth soccer has gone off the rails.
Agree on youth soccer going off the rails! I'm interested to know how the culture there is toxic. As a parent in the club can you give some actual examples? My DD was interested in playing there in the coming years as a couple of her friends have migrated. We have issues at our club but I would not say the problem is club wide. Usually it is an obnoxious parent/kid or two on a team here or there that act like complete idiots and create issues on a team that have to be addressed by club administration. Most get pissed by the club operators not dealing with the issue more effectively.
Surprisingly - the parents are the most normal we have encountered. I wrote a bit about this in a previous pipeline hate thread that some crazy rival started. My son plays on the B level team for his age - it is where he should be. I do not argue that he deserves to be higher or lower. After several years with pipeline, it is clear that winning is the main goal, not developing players. We have been told, not inferred, but directly told by leadership and my child's coach that pipeline is a business and if a team is not winning, changes will be made which may include firing coaches, recruiting new kids (there is constant rolling tryouts), pulling kids from A teams to play, permanently benching kids, etc. There is no discussion about providing extra support for the kids that are struggling - that has to be done on your own time with your own private coaches. We have been told that we pay for our child to be in a winning club, development is only a small part of that. The issue is that this idea of youth soccer ruins kids' spirits. It is great when your child is on a winning team and is a star player, however, when your child is in the middle of the pack and constantly being told he can and will be replaced if he doesn't perform is ridiculous. It is about perspective and these kids are not going pro and don't need to win every single game. At the age my child is, he needs to develop his skills. If he isn't trying, bench him. If he has a bad attitude, bench him. If he truly isn't working out, drop him during next tryouts However, you have committed to my child for a period of one year and it is up to you to support that development, not replace him when he has a bad game or two. My son has constant anxiety that he will be dropped and comes back from every practice reiterating this - not because he is going to be dropped but this is drilled into them. That is toxicity of the culture. As much as pipeline wants to talk about developing kids, they will drop you like a hot potato and replace you with the new shiny kid, rather than put in any level of effort in developing that child.
