Sigh...poor people who could not afford quality furniture would paint their cheap basic stuff to liven it up.  It was not wrong, but it did not signal quality.

I think the reason wealthy people do white kitchens now is that the faux craftsman look has come into fashion. The white cabinets look salt of the earth.  Fine if that is what you want to pretend, but fine wood cabinets don’t need paint and will always signal quality.[/quote]
