One word: CHOCOLATE. And don't try to slip us any of the cheap stuff either. Hershey's products are much better than Nestle or Mars. But Snickers, Reese's peanut butter cups, and m&ms are all appreciated too. Plain Hershey bars (mini size) are fine for those with peanut allergies, per a friend whose 2 kids both have allergies. Personally, I don't bother eating anything that's not chocolate, nor do my kids (take after me I guess). Caramels are an exception, or an occasional candy corn for old times sake.
LOL! To the bolded part: Hershey SUCKS big time compared to some real quality chocolate in this world. Hershey IS the cheap stuff - quality wise!!! Unfortunately people are not going to give out Swiss or Belgian or German chocolate on Halloween, but it would be nice to give out real chocolate instead of high fructose corn syrup. Q: What are the ingredients of a Hershey's bar? A: Actually, the answer should be "Chocolate: Hardly any." An actual Hershey's chocolate bar only contains between 4% and 10 % chocolate. The rest of it is sugars, emulsifiers, milk solids, and other fillers. From Hershey's website (!!) : "Dark chocolate has no official “standard,” or definition in the U.S. Milk chocolate must contain at least 10 percent chocolate liquor to meet the U.S. standard of identity." AKA: Standards are incredibly low! In contrast, a serious dark chocolate bar will contain anywhere from 65 percent to 85 percent cacao. Most kids don't like dark chocolate, but good quality bars of milk chocolate should still contain 30-35% cacao! Good luck trying to find that in any of our great brands here. Since high quality chocolate is ridiculously overpriced just for the US consumer - at least buy chocolate that does not have CORN listed as its first and main ingredient! Happy Halloween!
Yes, of course all that is true, but I meant among the types of chocolate typically given out at Halloween, I personally prefer Hershey's taste wise. Of course I would prefer some expensive dark chocolate even more, but I doubt many people will be passing that out to little kids for free.
