There is a fight for the really talented URMs by the time you get to high school - regional privates, boarding schools, etc.  If they are talented and financially constrained, they can go to these schools for free.  They are much better represented in those schools.  [/quote]

Funny you say that because the entire lottery proposal is Scott Brabrand responding to pressure from Ricardy Anderson and Karen Keys Gamarra (black members of the School Board) and the Fairfax NAACP to do something about the low number of black and Hispanic students at TJ.

I guess if you have some conspiracy view of the world you'd say the whites just go along with it because they know it will have the most impact on Asians and work out OK for them.
