I used to be very strongly against firearms, but the older I get, the more I see the real issue. Legal guns aren't the big problem. The vast majority of crimes aren't committed with legal firearms. Illegal guns are the big problem. Unfortunately most cities don't lock people up for long when they're caught with an illegal gun, and the recent "bail reform" is making things even worse. We need to get people off the street who are using (and demanding) illegal guns. The only way to do that is to lock them up for a long time.

I honestly think that if democrats supported enforcing the gun laws that we already have, we would be able to get the republican support to overturn the second amendment IF guns were still a big problem. But it won't happen until we start enforcing the laws we already have.[/quote]

Sound reasoning! Just like drugs, right? I've never seen any of those pesky things around. You know, there was not a single year between middle school and college that I could not obtain, from a friend of a friend, weed, LSD, ecstasy, and I would assume other drugs. If I recall these were all "banned"[/quote]
