We did something but it was pretty private. We had the doctor/tech write down the gender in a sealed envelope. We then went to Nordstorms and picked a boy outfit and girl outfit and handed the clerk our credit card and asked them to pick the outfit to match whatever was in the envelope. We then went to dinner by ourselves and opened the gift wrapped packaged. It was a nice suprise and a fun way to pick out the first outfit.
I love that this involved a Nordie's clerk. A+!
It was actually fun for them. They were excited. I mean, we went in the middle of the day and they were bored. And we picked the outfits and basically just asked and went off to another section (I needed a winter coat). We were pretty low key and just asked them to ring up the right outfit that matched whatever was in the envelope. I will say doing this at dinner alone was nice. It was just a suprise for us and we picked a cute first outfit. I will say, I don't know why a pile of people need to be involved in this. We just wanted a little something for us to share. I don't get the whole party thing with piles of people. I was very much avoiding everyone when I was pregnant so that might be a reason (also: pregnancy was not fun for me. I wasn't one of those women who loved being pregnant.).
