I think it’s gross and pushes gender stereotypes. It’s just better to wait until birth to find out the sex. I can’t think of one reason to find out the sex beforehand.
So you gave your kids gender neutral names so as not to perpetuate gender stereotypes, right? Because that was our primary reason for finding out: agreeing on a name.
People should find out whenever they want but I don't understand this. Just agree on a name for a boy and a name for a girl, and then at birth your bases are covered.
It's hard to come up with/agree on a name with your spouse! Particularly if you are from a culture like Judaism where you have to name the baby after someone and have limited options. That's why we found out the sex and then came up with a name - half of the (hard) work! All that said, gender reveal parties are tacky AF.
Yup I'm Jewish and we name after family - some as far back as 5 generations lol. We always find out but we keep it a secret until birth. You need to name pretty quickly in Judaism so it helps knowing which names you both like in advance. By one of my son's brises we just couldn't decide between 3 names. I told my husband to pick 2 of them and surprise me. I happen to really like the name he ended up picking.
