Oh this is really interesting. I had my baby at 35 weeks because of a complete previa situation 3 years ago, I teleworked full time already though, and every appointment I had with my MFM they were amazed that I had made it that far along without any bleeding--I think the fact that I was not doing anything beyond sitting in my desk chair or couch or sleeping in bed probably helped that, and I wonder if I'd had my former commute of an hour how that would have gone. I can see how people who are pregnant now and being really cautious are benefitted by teleworking, being able to rest more, etc. would cut down on pre-term births.[/quote]
Around 1/3 of preterm births are planned early deliveries due to a life-threatening complication discovered during prenatal care. Majority of pregnant women were avoiding going to the doctor during the lockdown therefore pushing prenatal appointments. Some of those were likely babies that stayed in longer than they would have, and others ended in stillbirth (the stillbirth rate also increased during lockdown).
