Really? that seems low. Why not just do a fed job at that point?
Most feds top out at about $160k, except in a few regulatory agencies.
But non-litigating feds have awesome hours even compared up these jobs.
Some non-litigating in house jobs have awesome hours and get a real bonus, stock, 401k match, and don't top out at 160k. 160k is lower than the starting salary.
Lawyers do not have "awesome hours" at a FAANG company.
I wasn’t talking about FAANGs. There are other in house positions that pay upwards of 300k and it’s a very reasonable hours and no weekend work. Occasional craziness if something happens, which is to be expected, but generally great hours.
What SV company is so flush with cash to pay their lawyers $300k other than FAANG? Or are those for GC positions, ie the very top lawyer at a huge legacy company?
Check out the Fortune 20. Lawyers work at all of them.
I work at a Fortune 1000 company. Our lowest paid lawyer makes $180k. Most make between that and the low $200s. The top third make around $275k-7 figures. No one works much more than govt attorneys except during an occasional crisis.
