But the point is that schools like Berkeley, UMD have classes with massive number of students - there is no way the professors are keeping track of who participates and who doesn't. Meanwhile private colleges, and especially SLAC, can have as little as 5 students in a class. This is why "participation points" are more common at privates and SLAC's than at large 30,000+ student research universities. [/quote]
