Wondering which age groups we are talking about here? The Showcase or the Kickoff event? I am a u13 parent so I am more concerned about Kickoff. Reading through the comments, I fail to understand the thinking? 1. CoVid is not the threat that it once was. Death rates have been trending down even through the spike. NoVa reported no new deaths today. 2. Kids need to get out and get exercise AND have some fun!!! Why are parents so against that?!? (LOL, at the TikTok post, my kids loves TikTok!) 3. I have no idea what the Refs issues are? I’m sure refs are hurting for money unlike many PP that frequent this site. 4. To be honest, I find it upsetting that a simple few want to ruin tournaments for everyone else! I do not know of one parent from our team that shares the same sentiment. Did anyone else play sports here? Trust me when I say if you are PP worried about your DC injuring themselves after a break, then they aren’t going to have a shot at scholarship anyway. That just tells me you DC hasn’t been putting in the work during down time. My DD is more ready than she was before the break!!!
You do know a) the death numbers are always lower on the weekends due to reporting problems and b) it was a holiday on Saturday. In fact there is a caveat in the reporting website pointing out that point: "The low new case numbers statewide can likely be attributed to a lag in reporting from Sunday, because case numbers were higher than average the last three days. "
Yes, it’s the same every weekend. Deaths have been trending down for weeks now. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ People like you ruin it for everyone. Guessing you are one who writes emails and complain to get tournaments canceled. The kids like my own who do not have a neighborhood to play with others thanks you for making them even more miserable because they were looking forward to playing. I say that to the rest of you as well. Take this into consideration; most deaths have come from the Northeast due to CoVid patients being placed in nursing homes. Take those numbers away and add in the fact we know how to treat CoVid through different means and medicines and the death rate drops tremendously. Now factor in the FACT that those under age 60 without MAJOR underlying conditions suffer minor illness. These are facts and there is no debate. None. There are many many more interesting facts that can be found on the CDC’s website rather than media.
