I support Elrich’s caution and prioritization of public health and hope he holds strong.
He can’t hold out much longer, despite data that supports a more cautious opening, because it will be too much pressure. Not his fault.
The caution should be directed at the nursing homes, and everyone knows that. He looks ridiculous.
I strongly disagree. This has been explained ad nauseam. Nursing homes are part of the community, you cannot pretend they’re in their own bubble.
Look at page 27 of Hogan’s reopening plan. He specifies that nursing homes are NOT community transmission, nor are other congregate facilities.
He’s very clearly and obviously inaccurate on that point and knows it. He’s not a fool. I’m a scientist in a biomedical field, to me this is a no-brainer. I also understand every state wants to reopen. Just know that nursing homes will pay a terrible price because of course they’re very vulnerable to community transmission.
I thought nursing homes wouldn't open to visitors until stage 3? I have a parent in one and wish they could remain closed as long as possible even though I miss her terribly. I know it's detrimental emotionally to the residents as well as families like mine but less so than death.
