Is the fact that BoJo was a US citizen until 2016 a concern at all to British voters? Obama was plagued by rumors he was a British citizen and here BoJo is, actually and without a doubt, American. Does anyone there care about whether the PM had other citizenships? How often do you encounter anti-Americanism? Are you ever offended by it?
I’m a Brit so feel qualified to answer this! No, this isn’t a thing in the UK. There are many many reasons to dislike Boris but this isn’t an issue. And I think that’s because in the US being born American is a constitutional requirement for president but there is no similar requirement for UK prime minister. There are other things that I find very different - one is that politicians and the President here in the US talk about god all the time - they refer to God, they say God bless America, God bless whoever. If most British politicians did that, and certainly if the Prime Minister did that, people would either think he was a religious nutjob, or insane. It is a deeply secular society (obviously there are religious groups within it, but by and large)
