Potomac does not send one third of it’s class to the Ivies (and equivalents - Stanford , MIT etc.). As for politics, most schools in this area have parents who are political to some degree, but the DC schools, especially the big three, are the most progressive and political. This is based firsthand experience w NCS/STA and feedback from friends w kids at Sidwell. Potomac’s college list is closer to SSSAS and it does have nice facilities including a new athletic center.
