And yes I was abused as a child, but curious as to what you mean by dissociated.[/quote] You are oddly detached from what happened, almost as if you’re reported something you observed from a distance rather than something that happened to you. Dissociation is very common in abuse victims (especially victims of sexual abuse), it’s a protective response to deny the reality of what’s happening To them during episodes of abuse. If you did that when you were abused as a child, it would explain why you did/are doing it now in response to actions by both of your children that may feel reminiscent on some level of the abuse you experienced as a child.[/quote] Hmmm interesting. Yeah I have to say, I do feel like my reaction is “off” like I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel or expect from them-but I do feel pretty angry and resentful that they chose to abuse me/ignore me when I was in such a state. I didn’t even want my 5yo near me afterward.[/quote]
