This is what I would do.

Even if he was “in the right” due to stand your ground laws, the fact that he is getting into fights in bars, taking them outside, and [b]putting himself in situations where lethal force is necessary[/b] shows he has issues. It's probably worth noting that the incident happened at least 15 years ago.  It's certainly possible he is a different man now if for no other reason than the effects of aging.  Also, gotta love the bolded...as if it's somehow reasonable to assume the person you are getting into an argument or fight with is going to escalate to using lethal force.[/quote]
