Did you read that article? She and her extended family were having major liquidity issues. Her parents home was in foreclosure, they sold a strip mall for $5 to an investor because it had $1.1m in debt outstanding. Haley's person bank account had a balance of $1K-$15K and over $65K on a credit card.
