Only physically, socially, emotionally and mentally secure, stable and strong kids can practise abstinence. These kids also have functional files and good role models. They have a support structure in place. It is easier to get them BC than make them strong to have values and abstain.
Oh please. My teen boys have support, good role models, and are secure and stable. One is sexually active (17) and in a consensual, caring relationship. The other is seemingly years away (16) from a relationship, let alone a sexual relationship. They were raised in the same house with the same values, and same (happily married) parents. Both have access to condoms, and have pretty open discussions with us. If I had a daughter, she would be on BC as soon as she was ready. Abstinence is great in theory, but I’m a realist, and do not want any pregnancy scares.
