[/quote] DP: Did you see the word “county” in PP’s assessment? I concur with PP. I think most MCPS schools are resting on the fact that public education in the US today is generally awful compared to other highly industrialized nations. Magnets are on the level of what I learned in excellent private schools in the 1980s. Sans computers until junior year and absolutely without the Internet or most of the tech crutches so widespread today. If the teacher showed a rare film, we paid attention because the option to Google the clip before the test simply didn’t exist. Redoing something was laborious (and almost never allowed) so we had to be meticulous. [/quote]
