1) OP's very premise is insulting to those of us who didn't have parents paying our full way through college; OP's premise is also insulting to those of us who may not be able to pay the full way for college for our children; OP acts like it is such a universal given: it is not.

2) Many of you are screaming about KIDS. We can have a more productive conversation if you will face the actual reality that, legally speaking, they are not kids--they are adults, and adults have rights. Adults--in the eyes of institutions, medical facilities, and law enforcement/courts--cannot be treated like children; they must be treated like adults, with all the rights and responsibilities and protections thereto. So until you are ready to talk about this in a realistic way, the conversation cannot be productive. [/quote]
