Gap's website says size XXL fits kids 94-115 lbs. For an 8 year old, that's off the charts as is the classmate of a PP's daughter.
If the height is "off the charts" as well, I'm not sure what you want these tall girls to do -- binge/purge until the numbers are acceptable to you? PP wrote about a 5'5" 3rd grader. You were complaining about 94-115 lb range. If this child were 100 lbs at that height, her BMI would be underweight at 16.6.
Well, remember, the XXLs don't fit the 8 year old. So you have to put in a weight of over 115. Information Entered Age (at measurement): 8 years Sex: girl Height: 66 inches Weight: 116 pounds Results Based on the height and weight entered, the BMI is 18.7, placing the BMI-for-age at the 88th percentile for girls aged 8 years. This child is overweight.
My DD would always have been overweight if we looked at weight for age. She was in the high 90s percentile for height from when she was a baby. The doctor always looked at weight based on height because she said weight based on age would be an inaccurate benchmark. No one has ever considered my DD even slightly overweight.
Yes they have.
