"Glorified scrimmages" is not quite accurate. Although showcases are somewhat diluted by the desire to give exposure to all players, these games do count in the standings and can be a factor in qualifying for the national championship.

DA Showcases already paired good teams vs good team and bad teams vs bad teams. However, the results didnt count. Now they count which goes against the purpose of "showcasing". Coaches are going for wins for the cup and also to avoid regulation. Remeber, regulation is based on club overall results and not team specific results. All teams will be expected to carry their weight.

If you're a starter with a good DA club everything is fine. If you're a bench player on a good DA club expect to see more of the bench. If you're with a bad DA club expect less exposure and less meaningful competetion. You are the CCL2 of the DA world.
