OP here. I don't have too much to add. The wedding is in mid October. We are definitely going because we can see everyone in the family. Since it is so close to Thanksgiving, we're going to stay home on Thanksgiving rather than battle Thanksgiving traffic. Cousin is somewhat OCD and over the top . I've never met her fiancee. She is one of those types who can't really understand why people don't see things her way. I'm assuming the cats are coming from one of her rescue groups. She seems to have done lots of research into this odd idea. When she asked me to stand in and sprung the cat adoption, she quickly added that if we decided to fly it would be fine. She is printing out emotional support animal certificates for anyone flying. I can't go buy the dress on my own. I offered/asked but she told me that she has ordered them specially made by the same person who is making the clothes for the cats. I plan on bringing several belts or something that I can wear under the giant dress. I figure I can take off the giant dress at the reception. I'm hoping that the wedding party cat carriers are not responsible for dressing the cat they are carrying. I didn't ask if there will be a cat valet to dress the asks but I'm wondering about this now. She has asked guests to make donations to her specific cat rescues in lieu of gifts. She is requesting that people send or bring checks to the reception since the rescue doesn't have a web page. She is arguing with her mother about whether to do a cash bar or free drinks. She wants to give the money her mother would have given her for the alcohol at the wedding to the cat rescue. She told me that she is just disgusted that someone could actually think free champagne was more important than saving lives. She is using part of her wedding budget to cover the adoption fees for the cats and buy people who adopted a cat a kitty carrier. She wants to seat everyone who adopted a cat or gave the most money to her rescue at special tables. She does not have a good sense humor and is very serious about this so everyone laughing at her is probably not going well. I'm going to keep being polite but standing firm on not adopting a cat. We'll see whether I end up in the wedding party or seated at one of the not special tables. I'll post updates when the wedding happens.
