The achievement gap is so great because the lower income students are mostly 1st or 2nd gen immigrants and there are language an cultural challenges, in addition to those associated with poverty. Generally, it’s already apparent to me that APS cares more about inclusivity than student performance; the gifted program is kinda fake, tons of resources are thrown at ESOL, etc.[/quote]
