I get that recent acquisition will change things but you can't ignore the track record, including the performance of its DA teams to date.
Exactly. You would think that since these people can do confidently read the future, they would be much too successful to be wasting their time on these forums. Unfortunately for them, the opposite is likely true - they are bitter envious and in denial.
When tryout numbers for FCV ECNL were in the 70's at rising U13 3-5 years ago and they drop to TEN outside players for the current rising U13's that is not a prediction. That is an outcome. It isn't sour grapes to say that the landscape moving forward is diluted with 7 elite soccer showcase options in NoVA. There is simply less of a need to seek out an environment where your player can play in a college showcase environment. Let me put it this way. There are no longer ANY destination clubs in NoVA. Every club now has a pathway and no club is special anymore, not FCV, not McLean, not BRYC.
if you ignore the quality of the training and interest in HS soccer. If you are into HS soccer, McLean just has the best track record and the proven coaches. If you are an elite player at u14 or u15, you can either role the dice with VDA or Loudoun or go with a proven group at McLean (BRYC does not have the numbers). If you don't care about HS, FCV is the proven leader. Time will tell but my money is on FCV and Mclean.
 Agree. This was discussed at length in another thread. Some folks just hate the guy/gal at the top. Make judgement based on rumors or misinformation. Of course, there are those that THINK FCV or McLean treated them poorly because their kid got cut or coach didn't pay enough attention... Move along to another club if you don't like the coach or if the parent wants to interfere... Until some other club in the local area steps up and knocks down the champs, it's all just talk!
It is and always will be about the players. FCV and McLean have always had their pick of the best 40 players in NoVA per age group. That is no longer the case, they now have to compete for the top players more than ever before. MANY top players are just not bothering to leave their club now that their club has a pathway. 5 years ago both clubs had the top 40 players. Going forward they are lucky if they will get 20 of the top 40 players in NoVA per age group.
You are a stubborn jacka$$ aren't you? It doesn't matter what the geography is for Loudoun. Get it? Will never be elite there because the top players know that it is NOT the place to develop as a player. Doesn't matter how far away the neighboring clubs are. Loudoun DOES NOT develop players. Get that through your thick skull.
It is still a player pool of talented kids, no matter if you feel they are squandered at Loudoun or not, who are no longer coming to FCV. They as well as kids from VSA, PWSI, Arlington, BRYC, McLean all of whom are more likely than ever to stay put. There is ZERO youth level interest in FCV due to Loudoun’s rec program size at the younger ages. You seem to think FCV can develop anyone when they have relied heavily on recruiting at later ages. Many of those kids are no longer on the table so FCV will need to rely on small, island of misfit toys rec program and U Little travel program that can barely field a team at the U9 U10 ages. You are the one who is stubborn. You can’t maintain a club without PLAYERS. Where are FCV’s players going to come from when clubs are retaining their talent more than ever before?
Man, you are just not that bright. FCV DA is a destination and it doesn't matter to many top players if they drive 5 minutes or 40 to get to the best team (best can mean different things to different people). Your opinion that just because Loudoun is ECNL all of a sudden the players are going to develop faster is really dumb. Loudoun's coaches are not going to get any better at development just because they wear a ECNL patch. The players that stay at Loudoun will fall behind for the simple reason that the development is very poor. Then you will have to come up with another rationalization of why things are the way to wish and hope they would be.
People live in the real world and sometimes the real world has real world obstacles that can make 1 to 2 hour commutes for a soccer practice at 6:00 4 nights a week impossible.
Way to move the goalposts. 30 or 45 minutes each direction is not 2 hours. In fact, it is happening at the DA on boys and girls side now with a majority of overall players. That is the point of the DA - it is a destination. Players will drive by a dozen clubs like Loudoun to get to their destination because Loudoun is not worth the time or money even if it is 5 minutes away. Loudoun want to be a destination? Well, hire better staff and stop playing for wins at U8 with the biggest and fastest kids that get caught by U13. It is all in your hands.
The only goal posts being moved is FCV to the St James. Loudoun's top girls players did not move en mass to FCV or any other DA. In fact, more FCV kids moved to Loudoun over the last two years then the other way around.
Haha...yes, the players that did not make the FCV DA teams! Most of them, while nice kids, are quite simply not good enough to play at the DA or ECNL level. And look at how they have performed in ECNL!?!
But I though FCV developed players? Those are multi year FCV players no? If FCV develops then why would they ever not be able to make the team that they had previously made the year before?
Haha. It doesn't mean EVERY player that comes through FCV is good enough for DA. A lot of outside players come in too and bump FCV homegrown out.
