She says there was a good mix of girls in the program who did not rush and who did rush...and of those who rushed, they tended to go for a certain few sororities who were known to be home to more of the academic smart types...other sororities there definitely attract the Southern Belle pageant type and don't really even consider Northerners in the first place (and even if a northerner did, they wouldn't fit in. So they usually don't aspire to them anyway.) My daughter went thru rush, got a bid, but decided she wasn't into it. It does not appear to have hindered her ability to form community. [/quote]
