Let me guess- this is how your "screening" would go:

"You need to prove you're not insane in order to be able to purchase a gun".

Ok cool. What's the screening criteria?

"Well, among other things, anyone who wants to buy a gun, is insane".

So, i can only have a gun if you say I'm not insane... but wanting to own a gun is proof I'm insane?

"Yes! No gun for you!"

That's about how we'd expect your mental health screenings to go.
