Because OP hasn't found out what is inside the box (besides the scale), her dad knows she hasn't opened it.

So her dad says "I know you didn't open the box from amazon because they track when gifts are opened."  Total BS just to explain why he knows she didn't open the box.

OP believes her dad sent her the scale from amazon, and that amazon is tracking her opening it. She believes her dad's BS

Her dad is really, really nuts in a manipulative or bad way...UNLESS it's a surprise gift and there is something nice inside along with the scale, or a gag gift. (did this scale come on April 1? April Fool's Day?)
