Let go of the fantasy that sports can exist in a vacuum that's somehow apart from society, apart from culture, suspended in some fantasyland where racism only exists so long as blacks and brown people complain about it, where there would be no sexism if women would stop harping on things, and the only reason for LGBTQ+ backlash are those infernal parades.

Sports to sports and politics to politics is pretty much a perfect rallying cry of -- yah you hate this word but if the shoe fits -- privilege. You don't wanna have to deal for one soccer game with issues that others have to deal with every. single. day. Boo hoo.

PS. Sexualization of women from a "same sex perspective" would be, e.g., using pictures of scantily-clad women players to sell tickets to lesbians. For example. Do your nine year old a favor and educate yourself on the topic.[/quote]
