That's a chance that could lead to real summer research jobs or graduate school recommendations down the road. I don't see it as dissimilar to the group treks offered by career counseling departments to meet potential future employers. My kid went on some of those and they were worth the plane fare for the education on the companies and interview process. I believe FA covers these jaunts too so they're open to all students regardless of parental ability to pay.[/quote]
