There is a Seneca Valley Cluster meeting scheduled for tomorrow....am I correct in thinking that the proposed boundaries will be discussed at this meeting? Maybe I'm misinterpreting the agenda? Here is a link: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/boe/meetings/agenda/2019/2.21.19%20Seneca%20Valley%20Cluster%20Mtg.pdf
No, the proposed boundaries are not going to be presented till March during these meetings: http://gis.mcpsmd.org/boundarystudypdfs/SVHS_MarchFlyer.pdf
Why does Seneca Valley get to meet with Board of Ed to speak about their concerns and wants, but not the other 2 clusters? Seems a bit unfair to me.
I'm in the Clarksburg cluster and haven't heard of such a meeting. I hope we get one before they provide the first set of recommendations in March. ALL of the clusters get a meeting with the BoE. Look, the Sherwood Cluster had a meeting on February 6: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/boe/meetings/agenda/2019/2.6.19%20Sherwood%20Cluster%20Mtg%20Agenda.pdf
I'm in the Clarksburg cluster and haven't heard of such a meeting. I hope we get one before they provide the first set of recommendations in March.
Each cluster gets a meeting with the BoE on a rotating basis. It does not happen every year for every cluster. It is on a rotating basis of every several years per cluster. RM cluster had theirs last May which I attended. Before you get upset that Clarksburg isn't getting a meeting before your boundary study starts just know that the one I attended was basically a big PR stunt with no actual substance discussed or change made based on anything from the meeting. So I wouldn't worry too much. Re: any boundary study - there will be separate hearings just on your boundary change issue after the superintendent releases his recommendations (after you spend a ton of time as a community making recommendations that will get ignored by the superintendent and then ignored again by the BoE). All community members can attend and testify in front of the BoE then.
