We're not moving. I mean no disrespect to SYC but we're not following ANY coach who abandons teams in the middle of the season or who tears teams apart in either club for other than developmental reasons (i.e. Your club's been admitted into an elite league and some kids can compete comfortably there while others need more development). Our ExDir has already recovered from the sudden and unexpected loss of our former TD and is proactively managing the anticipated loss of his crew. As a sister club in the soccer community, I wish SYC well because past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior so don't expect a lot of loyalty from the guys who come over or any concern for your kids as they patch together new teams with the few players who follow them along with your children who have this thrown on them.
Loyalty to a team and to kids is very different from loyalty to a club...or a particular executive director. I'm sure that said executive director is very keen for people to view them as one and the same. Our LMVSC coach has never failed to answer an email or text, never failed to make time for a kid or to talk to a parents. Sometimes the parents (including me) haven't liked what he's had to say, but there is no basis to say he isn't deeply invested in the development of the kids, both individually and as a team. Other than Este, I'm not aware of any coaches leaving before the season ends. They don't owe you (or me, or anyone) their servitude to Lula Bauer because it makes your drive easier. If staying at LMVSC works for you, great. I'm sure the new TD will be fantastic. I anticipate that many of the dribble-till-you-shoot-or-lose-it LMVSC players (esp on the boys side) will struggle under a new TD if they implement a different philosophy and, therefore, might be inclined to move.
