It’s tacky to wear diamonds during the day.
+1. I swear some of you were raised by wolves. Diamond earrings are for evening.
Not everyone adheres to WASP-y notions of what's appropriate. Diamond studs are perfectly acceptable daytime wear in a lot of cultures. The fact that you deem this to be savage (i.e. akin to being raised by wolves) says a lot more about you than it does about the people wearing the earrings your judging.
Oh please. this comment is about copying the royals, as recently reported: https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/why-meghan-and-kate-cant-wear-diamonds-in-the-daytime/news-story/c449890553a6aab2b7eedc00c466015f And lets be real, no one on the board is talking about wearing the type of Diamonds that Kate and Megan have access to. Stud diamond earrings, ie not dangly, are fine during the daytime.
The royals didn’t “invent” the rule. It’s a long-standing requirement that well-bred ladies save diamonds (other than engagement rings) for dinner and later. You don’t have to agree, but I think it’s always helpful to learn about unspoken class indicators.
This old trope about diamonds in the daytime is repeated by people who did not grow up with money and are looking to latch on to what those with "breeding" do.
+1. It's hysterical to me. People try so hard on DCUMs.
Go ahead, be a rube. We all know the rules even if you don't.
This is an antiquated rule that even well bred, old money eschew. "Well bred" women would have never had their ears pierced in the first place, wouldn't ever wear pants of any kind or leave home without pantyhose. Do you think we should still follow all of these rules in the 21st century?
